Ceramic Paint Protection is the Way to Go!

red car lurking in the shadows

You buy a new car and it looks gorgeous! Shiny, smooth, flawless. You vow to take the best care of it, and you wash and wax religiously, doing your best to keep bugs, tree sap, and road grime from hurting your baby. But, the world is a cruel place, and even the best intentions fall to the wayside. How do you bring back the glorious look of that shiny new car? Ceramic paint protection is a fantastic option.

So let's go over what it does (and doesn't do) first.

In short, a ceramic coating adds additional protection to your car’s exterior and helps keep it looking like-new with comparatively minimal maintenance. The coating achieves this result by making your vehicle more resilient and easier to clean.

If a vehicle is often exposed to the sun, its paint will begin to oxidize, resulting in dulled and faded paint. A layer of ceramic coating protects a vehicle’s paint from the sun’s ultraviolet rays, thereby reducing the amount of oxidization.

Ceramic coating has a lot of benefits, but it is not a miracle cure. The scratch-resistance of a ceramic coating is often exaggerated. A coated vehicle will simply not be completely resistant to the risk of rock chips or parking lot scratches. Even with a ceramic coating, you will still need to wash your car regularly in order to maintain its look. The benefit, however, is that the cleaning process will be much easier. Moreover, having a ceramic coating means that you will no longer have to wax your vehicle every few months, eliminating a significant part of maintaining your car’s exterior.

Now, let's go through the basics of ceramic coating application.

First, we thoroughly wash your vehicle. Then we follow that up with a mild clay bar to remove toxins and contaminants from the clear coat. Third, we use an acid neutralizer to stop any already occurring corrosion from things like acid rain, bird droppings, bugs, road brine, and tree sap.

Ceramic coating is a liquid application, and it has a significant amount of curing time, so you should expect to not have your vehicle for about 2 days. Ceramic coating must be applied by a professional detailer, because there’s a special technique that is used in its application. This is to make sure that the coating is applied evenly. Take note: once the coating has cured, that’s it. But when it does, it hardens into a thick layer of protection, almost like another clear coat of paint. With the ceramic coating you will get the highest depth of gloss on your vehicle as well as the greatest durability in protecting your vehicle’s paint.

A ceramic coating will definitely help your vehicle hold resale value. At Classy Chassis, we are proud to be the leading ceramic coating applicators for Ashland, Ohio, and the surrounding area. If you would like to learn more or schedule an appointment, call us at (419) 281-6680.

Electronic Corrosion Protection?

Car owners living in wintry climates like Ohio are constantly worried about cleaning road salt off their vehicles at the end of the day, to prevent rust from occurring. There are several ways to prevent corrosion. There is undercoating, spraying a tar-based substance on the exposed parts of a vehicle's underbody. There is dripless oil spray, a wax-like substance applied to the entire body of the vehicle, it hardens once it has dried. There is drip oil spray, and that is the most commonly recommended rust protection. But there is one new, greener method of corrosion protection , electronic corrosion protection (ECP). Electronic Corrosion Module protects the entire vehicle ECP emits a low power, pulse-wave, radio-frequency signal across all sheet metal surfaces of the vehicle. It protects against rust perforation that starts from the inside-out or the outside-in, even if it's caused by stone chips or scratches. The module's electromagnetic pulse-wave is effectiv

Leveling Kit vs Lift Kit

Lift kits and leveling kits are two of the most popular aftermarket add-ons, from Jeeps to SUVs, to pick up trucks. Both kits offer improved off-road performance while giving your vehicle a new look, but what is the difference between the two? If you own a mid to large-sized vehicle, you’ve probably noticed the rear end can sit a little higher than the front end. Because they are made to carry heavier loads, the back end has additional height to avoid sagging once it’s loaded. There’s no harm in the difference, but it isn’t the most visually appealing when there is no load to even it out. A leveling kit matches the front end to the back end height. Leveling kits are also added a majority of the time when a winch is added to compensate for the additional front end weight. While leveling kits are mostly just for looks, it can also give you some additional ground clearance. Leveling kits are often composed of spacers, strut extensions, shocks, and lift blocks.
